GetJet Airlines has begun operating long haul flights

GetJet Airlines has signed a contract making it the first Lithuanian airline to operate long-haul wide-body flights. The airline will use its Airbus A330 to operate a connection from Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW) to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YTZ).

CEO of GetJet Airlines Darius Viltrakis describes the contract in terms of GetJet Airlines’ wider business strategy: “We are very proud to be the first Lithuanian airline to operate long-haul wide-body flights. This move is part of our business strategy: to diversify our operations in order to mitigate market risks, including seasonality challenges.”

The Airline has also announced its considerations for future investments in wide-body aircraft. “We expect that there will be an opportunity to advance in this market, and we are considering the prospect of investing in wide-bodies in the future,” says Viltrakis.

Continuing with its strategic expansion in North America, the airline is working to receive Maltese AOC approval at the beginning of next year. With an FAA category 1 rating, Maltese AOC approval will give GetJet Airlines access to the US market.

GetJet Airlines’ first move into North America began with the conclusion of a contract with Canadian Sunwing Airlines last month. “Climatically, Canada is a great destination for ACMI and it’s one of the reasons why we are working to expand our footprint in North America as well as to consolidate our position internationally,” says Viltrakis
